Pet adoption policy
Rehome responsibly — standards for adoption listings.
Rehoming vs selling
Adoption listings rehome an animal to a loving owner, typically without a profit. Be clear about a nominal rehoming fee if one applies, and never disguise a commercial sale as "adoption" to bypass fees or rules.
Responsible adoption
Screen prospective adopters seriously: meet the animal, discuss care needs and expectations, and follow up where the animal's welfare depends on it. Provide accurate health and vaccination information before finalising.
Adoption partners
Recognised shelters and rescue organisations are welcome. Such partners should provide their details so adopters can verify them. See the Veterinary verification page for how profile verification works for businesses.
Never allowed
Adoption listings may not involve selling prohibited animals, misrepresenting age or health, or rehoming animals the seller does not lawfully hold. Never use adoption to mask illegal trade.
